Transparency in superannuation

APRA publishes the annual performance test, Comprehensive Product Performance Package  and a range of fund level and product level publications that all contribute to increased transparency in superannuation. APRA intends to expand the publication of superannuation data over time as new data is available from the Superannuation Data Transformation (SDT) project.

Performance test

APRA is required to conduct an annual performance test for superannuation products. The assessment under the performance test is intended to hold RSE licensees to account for underperformance through greater transparency and increased consequences.

Comprehensive Product Performance Package

APRA’s Comprehensive Product Performance Package increases transparency of superannuation product performance for 756 MySuper and choice product offerings which, collectively, represent most types of investment offerings for accumulation members.

The package brings together the product performance metrics underpinning the legislated performance test and APRA’s superannuation heatmaps. The package includes an insights paper, statistical publications and interactive product performance lookup tools.

Delivering member outcomes into the future

APRA has released insights outlining some of the challenges trustees face in promoting member outcomes over a longer term.

This publication supports trustees with their strategic and business planning under the recently refreshed SPS 515 Strategic Planning and Member Outcomes. It also provides transparency on some of the key considerations APRA takes into account when assessing a trustee's ability to deliver for their members into the future.

This release builds on the sustainability metrics previously covered in APRA's Superannuation Heatmaps.

Statistical publications

APRA releases statistical publications on a quarterly and annual basis that provide transparency at a fund and/or product level.
