An overview of non-regulated industry

A non‑regulated industry refers to organisations that are not authorised or prudentially supervised by APRA, but that may still interact with APRA for specific purposes.

Organisations which fall under non-regulated industries are not subject to APRA’s prudential standards or ongoing supervision in the same way as authorised entities (such as banks, insurers or superannuation trustees). However, APRA may collect information from them to support its regulatory objectives, financial system monitoring, or the administration of specific legislative frameworks.
