D2A frequently asked questions

What changes will be required to D2A to replace AUSkey with myGovID?

APRA has made changes to D2A to enable the use of myGovID, RAM and machine credentials (replacing AUSkey) for authentication.

Entities will be required to complete a minor D2A update to continue to use D2A after Friday 27 March 2020.  More information is available here.

What is the difference between myGovID, RAM and a machine credential?

The Australian Government's new digital identify provider that lets you prove who you are when using participating government services online. myGovID is an individual identifier.

D2A administrators (Principal Authority and Machine Credential Administrator) must set up their digital identity and obtain a myGovID.

Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)

An authorisation service that allows you to act on behalf of a business online when interacting with government services, using your myGovID.

Entities must ensure that their business ABN is linked and administrators are authorised in Relationship Authorisation Management.

Machine credentials

The machine credential replaces the current AUSkey device certificate to support the use of desktop clients such as D2A.

For D2A a Machine Credential Administrator will need to create a machine credential.

Do I have to install version 5.3 of D2A?

Yes. All reporting entities must download and install D2A version 5.3, to complete their submission requirements.

Each installation of D2A must also be updated in order to use myGovID authentication. Refer here for update instructions.

I have completed the update for using myGovID. Why does the D2A interface still show AUSkey?

The update made myGovID authentication available for your installation, however it did not change the user interface. Therefore, you will still see AUSkey displayed within D2A.

Where ever AUSkey is displayed, please use the appropriate myGovID credential.

Do I need to enter any proxy server details?

If a proxy server is used to connect to the internet, the proxy server details must be entered into D2A to allow your installation to communicate with APRA. To enter these details, navigate to the Tools menu, then Options.

Can I install D2A on more than one computer?

Yes, D2A should be installed on all computers that will be used to complete APRA forms. Each installation of D2A must also be updated in order to use myGovID authentication. Refer here for instructions.

Completing and submitting forms

When do I need to download new forms?

New forms must be downloaded when you first install the D2A software and then up to eight weeks before your next return is due.

If your institution’s status changes or changes are made to the forms, APRA may request you download new forms.

Why does D2A time out with 'Operation Failed'?

Please refer to the Common D2A errors page.

Where can I find out more information for a specific form?

Details of specific forms are available from the APRA website. Refer to Reporting framework for your organisation type.

Can I add more rows to a table in a form?

Yes. To add a row, right-click on the table and select Add new row.

Can I print the forms before submitting?

Yes. Forms can be printed at any time. Some forms can be printed to PDF.

Why is the Submit button greyed out?

Ensure you are submitting a whole return, rather than a single form. Only complete returns can be submitted to APRA in D2A.

How do I know that APRA has received my return?

When your data is accepted without errors, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen with a receipt number, and a confirmation email will be sent to you.

Can I re-submit a return if changes need to be made after my initial submission?

Yes, you can re-submit a return by making the required changes and submitting as usual.
