Superannuation heatmaps
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) publishes heatmaps to increase the transparency and scrutiny of performance delivered by superannuation product offerings.
MySuper Heatmap
The MySuper Heatmap use a graduating colour scheme to provide clear and simple insights into MySuper products across three areas: investment returns, fees and costs, and sustainability of member outcomes.
APRA has released an online, interactive, web-based tool to help users explore the Heatmaps more easily. Among its features, the tool allows users to sort by trustee, RSE or MySuper product, as well as filtering for single-strategy or lifecycle products.
Choice Heatmap
The Choice Heatmap use a graduating colour scheme to provide clear and simple insights into multi-sector choice investment options across three areas: investment returns, fees and costs, and sustainability of member outcomes.
APRA has released an online, interactive, web-based tool to help users explore the Heatmaps more easily. Among its features, the tool allows users to sort by trustee, RSE, Choice product or Choice investment option, as well as filtering by growth asset allocation category.
The Choice Heatmap utilises data provided by SuperRatings.
Insights papers
APRA has published an Insight Paper to illustrate the key insights from the data in the Choice and MySuper Heatmap, in particular identifying improvements to outcomes delivered to members and highlighting areas of poor performance.
APRA has published three technical papers with detailed insights from the MySuper and Choice Heatmaps, which can be found on the:
- MySuper Heatmap papers page, or
- the Choice Heatmap papers page.
