To: All Registrable Superannuation Entity (RSE) licensees
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is seeking feedback on the following proposals:
- amending Reporting Standard SRS 533.0 Asset Allocation (SRS 533.0), Reporting Standard SRS 610.2 Membership Profile (SRS 610.2)
- updating associated definitions in Reporting Standard SRS 101.0 Definitions for Superannuation Data Collections (SRS 101.0).
These updates have previously been discussed as part of APRA's Superannuation Data Transformation (SDT) project.1 APRA is also updating these reporting standards to facilitate their migration from APRA’s legacy data collection system, Direct to APRA (D2A) to APRA’s current data system, APRA Connect.
- revoking Reporting Standard SRS 001.0 Profile and Structure (Baseline) (SRS 001.0).
Background
APRA’s Corporate Plan details its commitment to improving its organisational effectiveness. One key initiative to support this and to strengthen APRA’s technology and data infrastructure is to migrate all data collections from D2A to APRA Connect. This initiative forms part of APRA’s broader strategic move away from the D2A platform. On 27 March 2026, APRA announced it had decommissioned D2A.
APRA and reporting entities anticipate important advantages to be realised through the migration from D2A to APRA Connect including a reduced compliance burden on industry, enhanced security, better data quality and a streamlined submission process through a single reporting platform.
While most collections will migrate to APRA Connect without change to the content, scope or due dates of applicable reporting forms, APRA has identified two superannuation data collections that include data that is no longer required. APRA proposes to remake these reporting standards to remove these data points rather than simply changing the method of submission specified in these standards.
Proposed changes to SRS 533.0
| Section | Retained? | Proposed changes |
|---|---|---|
Item 1. Strategic asset allocation | No | Removed from the reporting standard. Data collected in this section is reported in SRF 550.0 Table 1. |
Item 2. Directly held and indirectly held investments | No | Removed from the reporting standard. Data collected in this section is reported in SRF 550.0 Table 2. |
Item 2.1. Total investments | YES | Retained in the Reporting Standard in respect of MySuper products with a lifecycle investment strategy. This data is used as part of the annual performance test for MySuper products. APRA stated in August 2022 it would continue collecting it until the review of the Your Super, Your Future reforms are complete. APRA welcomes industry feedback on practicable alternative reporting solutions to collect this data. |
Item 2.2. Total assets | No | Removed from the reporting standard. Data collected in this section is reported in SRF606.0. |
Item 3. Movements in directly held and indirectly held investments | No | Removed from the reporting standard. Required data collected in this section is reported in SRF 551.0 |
Item 3.1. Total investment flows | No | Removed from the reporting standard. Required data collected in this section is reported in SRF 551.0 |
Proposed changes to SRS 610.2
| Section | Retained? | Proposed changes |
|---|---|---|
Items 1 – 4. Member account movement | YES | Reporting form design and instructions have been updated to align to APRA Connect design. Data is used in existing Annual APRA publications. |
Item 5. Segmentation of member account by age, gender and members’ benefit bracket | No | Removed from the reporting standard. To remove overlap with the new Reporting Standard 611.0 Member Accounts, APRA exempted RSEs from reporting this from 30 September 2022. |
Item 6. Members without insurance | YES | Reporting form design and instructions have been updated to align to APRA Connect design. Data is used in existing Annual APRA publications. |
Item 7. Membership in lifecycle strategy stages | No | Removed from the reporting standard. To remove overlap with the new Reporting Standard 611.0 Member Accounts, APRA exempted RSEs from reporting this from 30 September 2022. |
Revocation of SRS 001.0
APRA proposes to revoke SRS 001.0 and cease collection, for reporting periods ending after 30 June 2026, as the information it collected is now covered by the following standards:
- SRS 604.0 RSE Licensee Profile
- SRS 605.0 RSE Structure
- SRS 607.0 RSE Business Model
APRA also proposes to stop using SRF 001.0 data for reporting form allocation, including for MySuper products with a lifecycle investment strategy, and instead use data collected through the APRA Connect standards above.
Confidentiality proposal
APRA proposes to determine all the data to be collected under revised SRS 533.0 and SRS 610.2 to be non-confidential under section 57 of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Act 1998.
This confidentiality proposal does not enlarge the existing scope of data previously determined non-confidential under Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (confidentiality) determination No. 6 of 2015. Revised SRS 533.0 only requires information relating to total investments and revised SRS 610.2 includes a reduced scope of data.
Timeframes for transition
The following table outlines the key milestones for the transition to APRA Connect:
Table 1. Timeline for transition of D2A data collections to APRA Connect
| Milestone | Target Date |
|---|---|
| Consultation | July to August 2026 |
| Response to consultation | October 2026 |
| Collections available in APRA Connect External Test environment | November 2026 |
| First applicable reporting period in APRA Connect | December 2026 |
RSE licensees will continue to submit the data for SRS 533.0 and SRS 610.2 under the alternative submission arrangements for D2A collections until they are implemented in APRA Connect.
