The National Claims and Policies Database (NCPD) is a comprehensive database of policy and claim information on professional indemnity and public and product liability insurance. It contains data on every open, reopened or finalised claim and policy underwritten since 2003 by Australian APRA-regulated general insurers.

NCPD Statistics

Access to unmasked NCPD Data

To protect individual privacy, APRA applies privacy masking to NCPD data publications.

In limited circumstances, eligible organisations and individuals may request access to unmasked NCPD publication data.

Access is subject to APRA approval and acceptance of the applicable privacy terms and conditions.

Applicants must complete and return the following privacy terms and conditions documents prior to receiving unmasked NCPD publication data:

Requests for access to unmasked NCPD publication data should be submitted to dataanalytics@apra.gov.au. APRA will assess each request and advise applicants of the outcome.

Level 1 reports

National Claims and Policies Database analysis

On 4 May 2023, APRA released a report on claims trends and affordability of liability insurance in Australia.

General insurance selected feature

On 7 November 2014, APRA released a selected feature on Claims trends for liability insurance. APRA presented this report on 18 November 2014 to the Institute of Actuaries, Australia, General Insurance Seminar 2014.
