APRA releases consultation package on Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions’ Points of Presence statistics

15.29

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) today released a consultation package on Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions’ (ADIs) Points of Presence statistics. The ADI Points of Presence publication provides a detailed annual listing of the banking services provided to Australians by ADIs.

APRA is reviewing the Points of Presence statistics to ensure that the statistics remain relevant and useful. The consultation is consistent with international statistical standards to regularly review the relevance of statistics, and APRA’s commitment to look for opportunities to reduce compliance costs for business and the community.

APRA is proposing two options for the future of the Points of Presence statistics and data collection:

1. streamline the Points of Presence statistics and data collection; or
2. cease the Points of Presence statistics and data collection.

APRA invites submissions on the proposal by 18 November 2015. The  ADI consultation packages and the June 2015 Points of Presencepublication are available to read.
