From 1 July 2004, trustees of registrable superannuation entities (RSEs) must hold a Registrable Superannuation Entity licence (RSE licence) issued by APRA. In addition, all RSEs must be registered with APRA prior to commencing operations. Trustees first must have been granted an RSE licence to be able to register an RSE.
Applicants should read the following licensing and guidance material before applying for an RSE licence and/or registering an RSE with APRA.
RSE licensees must apply on an approved form to vary or cancel a licence, seek approval of transfer and to notify changes in composition of RSE licensees
The
Register of RSE Licensees and RSEs is a publicly available list of all Registrable Superannuation Entities (RSEs) and RSE Licensees regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
RSE licensees may also need to apply for an Australian financial services (AFS) licence issued by the Australian Investments & Securities Commission (ASIC) to operate a superannuation fund. Refer to the AFS licensing section of the ASIC website for more information
