1997/98 SUPERANNUATION ANNUAL RETURN DISKETTE LODGEMENT SYSTEM INSTALLATION PROBLEM

The Superannuation Annual Return Diskette Lodgement System (DLS) installation program is written to cater for the wide range of computers and operating systems used by our clients. APRA has endeavoured to simplify the installation of the DLS by automating as many steps as possible for the many different operating systems available. Both the DLS and the installation program were rigorously tested, including beta testing by 1000 of our clients. Unfortunately, the testing regime did not disclose a problem that has since been detected in a Windows NT" environment with installation of the DLS.

We have now been advised that in some instances the 1997/98 DLS installation program overwrites the last line in the AUTOEXEC.NT file with the line SET CLIPPER=E0;F90;. Users may experience a number of different errors depending on what the last line in the autoexec.nt file was prior to installation. To avoid such problems occurring, you should make a copy of your autoexec.nt file before installing the Annual Return Diskette Lodgement System. The missing line as shown in the copied file should then be re-added to the autoexec.nt file.

If you have any doubt about what you should do, please consult your systems administrator or Windows NT" supplier BEFORE proceeding to install the DLS.

APRA has had no indication that this problem affects any operating system other than Windows NT".

Windows NT" users who require further information about the specific nature of this problem may contact APRA on 02 6213 5217.

APRA regrets any inconvenience this problem may have caused.
