Senior Management Appointment at APRA

The Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA) has appointed Mark Baxter to the position of General Manager, Diversified Institutions Division (DID).

The Division is responsible for the supervision of conglomerate financial institutions, foreign-owned institutions and institutions which form part of an international network.

Mr Baxter is will manage the frontline supervision of a number of DID entities including the development and implementation of strategic regulation policy, the identification of critical market and institutional developments and the quality assessment of management, strategies, practices and systems within an institution.

He joins APRA from William M Mercer where he most recently held the position of National Practice Leader  Healthcare. With a background predominantly in consulting, Mr Baxter has 20 years experience in the finance sector working in Australia, London and Hong Kong for a number of organisations including Ernst & Young, KPMG Actuarial Services, Greater Pacific Life and Jacques Martin.

Mr Baxter holds a Degree in Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
