The New General Insurance Regime

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) will host a one-day seminar on the New General Insurance Regime on 1 May at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.

The seminar will be the final in a series of seminars undertaken by APRA as part of its consultation processes with the general insurance industry on reform of prudential supervision arrangements for general insurance.

Proposed amendments to the Insurance Act 1973 and revised drafts of new Prudential Standards and Guidance Notes will be issued ahead of the seminar and will form the basis of the days discussions.

Speakers include the Minister for Financial Services and Regulation, the Honourable Joe Hockey MP, key APRA representatives and senior members of the general insurance industry.

Members of the general insurance industry and other interested persons are encouraged to register by 20 April. Details regarding registration can be found on APRAs website: www.apra.gov.au under Whats New.
