Thursday, 01 June 2000
No. 00.18
For Immediate Release

Former Cranbourne company directors Douglas Gordon Johnston and Fiona Louise Johnston have been committed for trial in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on charges relating to the operation of Greenacres Management Pty Ltd.

The charges follow a joint investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The charges included obtaining property by deception, issuing superannuation interests in a fund without an approved trustee and making improper use of corporate funds to gain personal advantage.

Douglas Gordon Johnston reserved his plea and was committed for trial on 42 charges. Mr Johnston was bailed on his own undertaking to appear at the County Court at Melbourne on 22 August 2000.

Fiona Louise Johnston was committed for trial on 13 charges relating to the Corporations Law and the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act.

Ms Johnston pleaded not guilty to the charges and was bailed on her own undertaking to appear at the County Court at Melbourne on 26 September 2000.
