Proposed streamlined data collection for life companies and friendly societies - April 2007

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is proposing to make data collection more efficient for life companies and friendly societies. A set of reporting standards, to be made under the Financial Sector (Collection of Data) Act 2001, will replace Prudential Rules made under the Life Insurance Act 1995. APRA is proposing the new standards will be available in the third quarter of 2007 and take effect in the first quarter of 2008. APRA is seeking comments on this proposal - written submissions should be emailed to by 12 June 2007.
