Quarterly General Insurance Performance Statistics

The Quarterly General Insurance Performance Statistics publication provides industry aggregate summaries of financial performance, financial position and key ratios.

This publication replaces APRA’s previous general insurance publication, General Insurance Trends (Trends). The data provided is not directly comparable to Trends due to:

the change in prudential reporting framework that took effect on 1 July 2002; and
changes that have been made in the definition of some ratios to better align with industry standards. Details on the specific ratios are contained in the glossary at the end of the publication.

Current issues
The publication is available in two electronic formats: Adobe PDF for printing (containing data for the most recent periods) and Microsoft Excel for further analysis (containing a complete time series of data since September 2002).

Data in this publication are sourced from regulatory returns submitted to APRA under the Financial Sector (Collection of Data) Act 2001 by authorised General Insurance companies. Statistics on Lloyd's Australian operations are not included in this publication.
