| What's new APRA modernised the data collection framework for life insurance companies including friendly societies (together referred to as life companies). The new framework introduced new reporting standards, forms and instructions based on updated specifications and improved information technology for data submission from 1 January 2008. APRA released for consultation a proposal for a new quarterly statistical publication derived from the new reporting requirements. This quarterly publication provides aggregate trend information on life insurance assets, income and expenditure. It also includes statistics on the life office assets share of superannuation business.
Life Insurance Market Information December 2007
This half yearly publication provides information on the concentration of assets and market share of premium income among the top ten life insurers. The publication also provides details of life insurance premium movements by product type.
APRA Insight
This quarterly publication combines prudential commentary and feature articles with a set of statistical tables and figures.
Past publications
Life Insurance Financial Information December 2001
This publication contained aggregate industry information on profit and loss, balance sheet, solvency, premium revenue, investment revenue, policy payments and administration expenses. It also contained company level abstracts on profit and loss, balance sheet, solvency, sources of profit and assets.
