Industry Consultation - Proposed Capital Standards for Private Health Insurers
This circular initiates a consultation period on proposed changes to the capital standards applicable to the private health insurance industry.
PHIAC’s review of the capital standards aims to ensure that the risks faced by insurers are consistently and accurately reflected, and to improve both insurers’ engagement with those risks and the quality of information available to PHIAC in support of its regulation of the industry. Links to the consultation paper, the technical annexure and the Quantitative Impact Study (QIS) are provided above.
PHIAC welcomes comments on any element of the Consultation Paper, or the Technical Annexure detailing the changes. PHIAC welcomes responses received by 1 October 2012. If you prefer that some, or all, of your submission remains in confidence, the confidential material should be clearly identified and included in a separate attachment. You should carefully consider the information contained in your submission as the confidentiality of your response might be affected by legal requirements such as the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
