The Credit Union Dispute Resolution Centre (CUDRC) assists participating credit unions and their members resolve complaints in a fair, timely and cost-effective manner. The CUDRC is funded by participating credit unions and provides free access to participating credit union members around Australia by a free call number. The primary function of the CUDRC is to respond to members complaints resolve disputes.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission operates under the Trade Practices Act 1974 and Prices Surveillance Act 1983. These Acts cover anti-competitive and unfair market practices, mergers or acquisitions of companies, product safety/liability, and third party access to facilities of national significance.

The ACCC chairs the Australian Consumer Fraud Taskforce which addresses the community impact of fraudulent schemes. A portal has been established for this purpose.

The members of the Australian Finance Conference (AFC) include most finance companies and many other providers of financial services. The AFC’s Finance Industry Customer Service (FICS) refers unresolved complaints against members to a more senior level in that organisation for reconsideration.

It seeks to facilitate matters within a member company’s normal customer service processes. There is no monetary ceiling nor consumer/commercial distinction in FICS.
