APRA releases private health insurance statistics for March 2017

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) today released its quarterly private health insurance publications for the March 2017 quarter.

The publications provide industry aggregate summaries of key financial and membership statistics of the private health insurance industry.  

Key performance statistics for the private health insurance industry in the year ended 31 March 2017:

Total Fund benefits $18.7 billion $19.7 billion +5.4%
Net profit after tax $1.1 billion $1.3 billion +18.2%
Total assets $12.6 billion $13.6 billion +7.8%
